Brooke Hartley, M.Ac, L.Ac, NTP

Brooke Hartley is a licensed practitioner of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine. Brooke appreciates the complete medical system that Chinese Medicine has to offer. Incorporating acupuncture, herbal medicine, dietary therapy, and holistic life-style counseling, Chinese medicine is the longest standing, comprehensive approach to healing and wellness. Chinese Medicine is a unique and thorough system of medicine which has truly withstood the test of time.

As a furniture-maker and woodworker for 15 years, Brooke found relief in the hands-on approach to studying Chinese Medicine. "My acupuncturist saved my life," Brooke shares, and this life-changing occasion engendered her new choice of careers. Studying Chinese Medicine, she found, was as equally rewarding as her career in woodworking. "You don't have to believe in cosmology or understand the meridian pathways in the body in order to benefit from the healing capacity of acupuncture."

With a Bachelors degree in Human Ecology from College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, Maine, the study of traditional medicine came naturally for Brooke. Learning about the natural world and how humans interact with it mirrors the study of Chinese Medicine. Instead of studying how humans interface with nature, Chinese Medicine studies how nature exists within us. "How is the tree inside someone growing? Does it need more sunlight, richer soil, is it commensurate with the seasonal energy? in what way can we enrich the growing potential?" In this way Chinese Medicine restores the balance of natural energy within a person, thereby harmonizing their relationship to the world and awakening the body’s inherent capacity to heal.

Brooke received her Masters degree in Oriental Medicine from Maryland University of Integrative Health in Laurel, Maryland in 2013, and her Functional Nutrition Certification from the Nutritional Therapy Association in 2021.
